Trifolium fragiferum; encompasses O'Conners Strawberry Clover (3-7 inches) and Palestine Strawberry Clover (4-12 inches.)
Color: pink
An easy to grow perennial plant. Clover is a legume which fixes nitrogen in the soil. It provides small pink "puff" flowers, which attracts bees. O'Conners Strawberry Clover is sometimes used as a ground cover for landscaping purposes; Palestine is generally used in pastures. Strawberry clovers are particularly deep rooted and are relatively drought tolerant once established. They will also tolerate fairly alkaline and even saline soils; as well as soggy conditions. The attributes which make Strawberry Clover easy to grow in sometimes difficult conditions also means this plant can be difficult to remove once established. Plant in full sun or partial shade. Sow seed in the fall in mild climates or in the spring.
